I was honored to build the new front reception desk for the newly remodeled Weisman Art Museum at the U of M. Just working on a piece that would be at home in a Frank Gehry building was pretty wild. Working under an amazing Lichtenstein painting during the install was a close second. The piece was designed by Gehry Partners and HGA with Robert Good. It's a funky design incorporating colorfull laminate, Douglas Fir veneers, solids, reclaimed 12x12 timbers, and a glass divider system.
I finished all of the timbers and cubbies on site, with the exterior of the Weisman as my backdrop. Very enjoyable days at the museum.
